New Codes of Practice for Crustacean Welfare were released today, developed by the Crab and Lobster Management Group, SAGB and Seafish with wide input through sector panels including SSA Members.
SSA members will receive two documents – the standalone Processing Sector code and a compilation version that brings together the full suite of codes from across the supply chain.
Please spread the word that the codes are ready and available to use. The full suite of codes will be available on the Seafish website later this week, and over the next month or so further information will be added to help demonstrate that the Codes are being followed. Work is also underway to produce a short video for domestic consumers who buy live crustacean to cook at home.
