His Majesty The King met with Scottish Seafood Processors – 04/10/2022

His Majesty The King met with Scottish Seafood Processors.

Five Scottish seafood processors were invited to Birkhall on 4th October 2022, to showcase their produce to His Majesty The King.

It has become a tradition of The King (in his previous role as The Duke of Rothesay), to meet with Scottish producers to learn about the fine seafoods they produce. It has been an appreciated opportunity for these producers to share with His Majesty the challenges they face to keep the seafood supply chain moving.

This is a continuation of tradition dating back to The Queen Mother, when she resided at Birkhall.

Jimmy Buchan, Chief Executive Officer of the Scottish Seafood Association commented:

“It is an honour to showcase our great seafood, caught by our local fishermen and processed by our members.” Mr Buchan went onto say that for The King to keep up with his interest in the seafood communities is humbling.”

This year, Keltic Seafare of Dingwall, GT Seafoods of Peterhead, Coupar Seafoods of Aberdeen, GJ Jack  of Fraserburgh  and Messers J Smith of Sandend, presented a selection of the seafood they supply across domestic and international markets.

Given the backdrop of current economic and general market challenges, the seafood processors are confident that the future is bright and being able to showcase and present to His Majesty is a testament to The Kings interest in the seafood sector.
