Today I met with 23 Scottish Development International in-market market specialists based in various overseas offices who were on a seafood learning journey.
The visitors were given a fish market / auction tour followed with a question answer session at Peterhead Port.
It was good to share and explain some of the current problems the sector is enduring whilst being able to promote the seafood sector and the great seafood we have available from a wide variety of processors and fisheries.
Giving a hands on insight to the sector is helpful to build relations and intelligence of how the “sea to plate” supply chain works.
A good Friday market of over 7000 boxes of fish at auction made for a an excellent showcase of prime quality whitefish which gave the visitors an eye opening view into the seafood supply chain.
The visit was supported by Peter Cook, Director of Food & Drink of Opportunity North East, and Peter Duncan of Peterhead Port Authority.
