Prestwick Airport’s export boost with new Hong Kong link

Hong Kong Air Cargo has confirmed Glasgow Prestwick Airport as a new destination and is expected to begin operating scheduled cargo flights between Prestwick and Hong Kong Airport next month.

This new service offers Scottish perishable exporters a direct and reliable route to one of Asia’s key markets, enhancing supply chain efficiency and reducing transit times. Produce arriving at Hong Kong Airport can quickly reach the wider Asian market due to its high connectivity.

Additionally, the airport is in the final stages of discussions with another airline that intends to operate daily flights between Prestwick and multiple airports in mainland China, hopefully by May 2025.

This will provide a daily, scheduled link for exporters looking to reach key Chinese markets with greater frequency. These developments mark a significant step forward in expanding air cargo connectivity and creating new opportunities for Scottish exporters.

By flying your Scottish produce from Prestwick, you can extend its shelf life significantly. To find out more about this new service please contact Peter Barry: pbarry@glasgowprestwick.com.
