Strengthening Scotland’s Seafood Future: SSA Meets First Minister at St Andrews House

On 20 May, Scottish Seafood Association CEO Jimmy Buchan met First Minister John Swinney for a one-to-one discussion following UK Government’s EU TCA announcement. The meeting, held at St Andrews House in Edinburgh, focused on the significant impact this has on Scotland’s seafood sector, and the urgent need for meaningful support and representation in UK-EU negotiations / reset.

Later that day, Jimmy joined a roundtable discussion alongside major industry voices to address immigration challenges facing Scottish business across all sectors. The conversation focused on seriousness of the UK Government’s white paper on immigration. Discussions focused on the challenges to workforce shortages and how policy reform can better serve the operational realities of all Scottish sectors.

This high-level engagement highlights the SSA’s commitment to championing our sector at the highest level, ensuring the voices of processors, workers and coastal communities are heard and acted upon.
