SSA Supports Jack Taylor Exports to Achieve IFS Accreditation

The Scottish Seafood Association (SSA) is proud to highlight a recent member success, with Jack Taylor Exports achieving its first IFS (International Food Standards) accreditation in November 2025, supported by SSA’s in-house technical expertise.

Jack Taylor Exports has consistently achieved strong results through SALSA accreditation over many years. However, following a move into larger premises and continued growth in export activity, the business recognised the need to progress to a recognised third-party food safety standard to meet customer and market expectations.

Given the company’s strong export focus, IFS accreditation was identified as the most appropriate next step.

Technical Support in Action

As an SSA member, Jack Taylor Exports approached the Association for guidance. Having previously supported the business through audits and technical visits, SSA Technical Advisor Lynne Stephen worked closely with the company’s Technical Manager, Weronika, to review documentation, systems and operational practices against the IFS standard.

Over a period of several months, SSA provided clear, practical support across all elements of the standard, helping the management team understand audit requirements and implement the necessary changes in a structured and achievable way.

The wider Jack Taylor team played a crucial role in the process. Operations Manager Owen Rutter and Factory Team Leader James Houston led internal communication with staff, ensuring everyone understood the importance of IFS accreditation — particularly in meeting the expectations of French and wider European customers.

A Strong Outcome Through Collaboration

Through commitment, teamwork and focused technical support, Jack Taylor Exports successfully passed its IFS audit, securing accreditation in November 2025. The achievement strengthens the company’s position in international markets and reinforces its commitment to food safety, quality and continuous improvement.
